Sean Dyche’s Burnley has allegedly requested information on the signing of Ryan Christie from Celtic, according to a report. According to Daily mail (via HITC), Turf Moor’s side are reportedly interested in signing the attacking midfielder. The 26-year-old has a 12-month contract and would be keen to move to the Premier League.
Christie was signed from Inverness CT in 2015 with loan spells at ICT as well as Aberdeen before making his debut in the Celtic First Team. Hibs’ failure to capture John McGinn along with the departure of Stuart Armstrong opened up a midfield vacancy for Christie who he grabbed with both hands. It is probably thanks to the fact that these two players played alongside him with Scotland that he believes he can hold out in England. Crystal Palace has been linked and London is (probably) nicer to live in than Burnley.
The player will likely spend this summer as Celtic seek to rebuild under Ange Postecoglou. Christie wants to move and Celtic is expected to cash in, but only after testing the market to get the best price for the player. If we could get £ 8million for the player it would be a phenomenal deal. Postecoglou has Rogic and Turnbull at his disposal so if Christie goes he will be covered. With seven goals and fifteen assists, Christie was admittedly there unlike the others, but he became a source of frustration for long-range shots.
