Leroy Donald Deering, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2020 with his family by his side. Leroy was born on October 25, 1938, son of Herman and Emma Deering. On August 29, 1957, he married Suzanne. They have been married for over 61 years. They lived in the Palatine and had recently moved to Huntley. He worked as a Lands Manager at the Inverness Country Club and founded his own Leroy’s Lawn business in the early 1960s. He enjoyed working in the business with his sons until his last days. He loved music and was inducted into the Concertina Hall of Fame. He played his concertina from an early age for his family, friends, local churches and as part of the ministry of a church retirement home. Some would say he still had a ready smile and a song in his heart. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He loved Jesus and found his last rest in heaven. Carol Suzanne (Morey) Deering passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at JourneyCare in Barrington, Illinois. Susie was born on December 15, 1941 in Evanston, Illinois, to Ethel Nolan Morey and Selah E. Morey. She grew up in Forest Lake and then moved to Schaumburg, Palatine, and finally Huntley, Illinois. She married Leroy Donald Deering on August 29, 1957. He was the love of her life and they were fortunate enough to share 62 years of marriage. Together they have had and mourn three children, Robert (Cynthia), Connie (Terry) and Richard (Courtney), whom they raised in the house they built together in Inverness in 1967. They are the great-grandparents of six children. Susie enjoyed being a housewife, supporting Leroy in the family business, volunteering in their church’s Seeds and nursing home ministries, and helping and encouraging their friends. She was a kind and gentle spirit who knew Jesus and showed her love through simple acts, compassion, and help when needed. She was predeceased by Leroy when he passed away suddenly on May 19, 2020. She could hardly imagine life without him. She will be sadly missed and remembered with love. A celebration of the life of LEROY ET SUSIE will be held at Willow Creek Church Huntley, located at 38W133 Huntley Road, West Dundee, IL on Friday October 15 at 3:00 p.m. Visit with family before service at 2:15 p.m.
