Inverness progressed to the play-off final by narrowly beating Arbroath 5-3 on penalties after the match ended scoreless. Arbroath nearly grabbed a late winner Colin Hamilton sent a header against the crossbar.

Caley controversially ended the match with nine men after Danny Devine and Wallace Duffy were sent off. The close fight ended in a penalty shootout and after Arbroath veteran Bobby Linn had his kick saved by Mark Ridgers, Kirk Broadfoot headed home as Caley Thistle progressed to face the Saints .

The Saints ended their league campaign with a disappointing 4-0 loss to Hibs at Easter Road. The hosts took the lead just before half-time despite a solid first half from Saints. Paul McGinn managed to get on the end of Elias Melkersen’s cross, hooking the ball over his shoulder past Elliott Parish.

James Scott scored a second-half hat-trick to ensure the points stayed in the capital. The striker scored his first goal 3 minutes into the second half as he unknowingly found himself on the end of a cross from McGinn. Scott’s second goal came in the 61st minute as he converted a Joe Newell cross before the man on loan at Hull City completed his hat-trick 2 minutes from time as he headed home.
