Members of the public had the chance to see the plans and have their say on a housing development in Inverness this afternoon.

Kirkwood Homes hopes to build 80 new homes, 20 of which would be classified as affordable, on a site 255m south of the Drumossie Hotel where a public consultation took place this afternoon.

The site already has planning permission since 2015 for mixed tourist use, but the owner has not yet developed it.

Allan Rae, Kirkwood Land Manager, said: ‘The site has a higher capacity, but we are trying to keep it at a reasonable density.

The properties would be a mix of three-bedroom semi-detached and detached houses, four-bedroom detached houses and five-bedroom detached houses.

Mr Rae said the development had been designed to be similar to neighboring properties and added: ‘It is quite well self-contained.

Springfield Homes Homes is currently developing a site nearby and a planning application has been submitted for a site next to this development.

Mr Rae said there would be two online consultation sessions tomorrow and another on June 29.

The developer hopes to submit a planning application to Highland Council by mid-August.
