One of the founders of the company that promotes the iconic North Coast 500 route is due to step down.

NC500 Ltd Executive Chairman Tom Campbell will be leaving the company at the end of this month to take on a new role later this year.

He has been with the company since its inception seven years ago.

Last year, North Coast 500 Limited worked with some 800 member businesses across the region, showcasing the route’s offering through its dedicated website, visitor app, podcasts and media campaigns.

Acting Chairman of North Coast 500 Ltd, David Hughes said: ‘Tom’s vision, passion and pride for the Northern Highlands have been instrumental in establishing the NC500 route as one of Scotland’s most important tourist offerings, helping to attract thousands of visitors to the region. every year.

“It leaves North Coast 500 Limited as a single global brand, adding substantial value to local business activity in the Northern Highlands region.

“A strong, committed and experienced management team, led by our Chief Operating Officer Craig Mills, will ensure a smooth transition as we proceed with the appointment of a new Chairman.

“We wish Tom every success in the future as he looks forward to the next chapter in his career.”

Mr Campbell said: “I leave with a real sense of pride in what has been achieved.
